Our sincere apologies to Melinda Whitaker, talented jazz singer who appears at Hermann’s Jazz Club and did so recently. In an effort to promote local jazz (actually, to promote good music of any kind) we mentioned her, but misspelled her last name.

It’s been corrected on the entry in question, and is rendered correctly in this post.  Please be reassured that no disrespect or insult was intended. It was a typographical error, nothing more.

“Anyone who has heard Melinda’s voice knows it’s smokey brilliance, the seductive, electrical charge that this wonderful performer can bring to a song.”

Be sure to catch her when she’s next in town – we checked her website, but couldn’t find her next appearances here in Victoria. She has a recent CD out,  Daedalus CD a collaboration between her and Victoria pianist and composer, Brent Jarvis – with vocalists Melinda Whitaker and Anne Schaefer. It’s a collection of original songs written for the poetry of Canadian literary legend Dorothy Livesay.

Again, our apologies to Ms. Whitaker.
