This is it! This weekend is the weekend of the Dragon Boat Races in the Inner Harbour – all kinds of great times from Friday to Sunday afternoon! The boats are “awakened” by Taoist priests in a centuries-old ceremony on Friday. Saturday, 90 teams from all over North America begin racing at 9 am and continue until 4 pm. Saturday night, one of the most popular and hilarious events takes place – the Paddlers Air Band Contest – be sure you don’t miss this! Sunday races continue, including the Silk Road Tea Breast Cancer Suvivor’s Cup race held at noon. Final races begin at 1:00 pm and continue to approximately 4:15. Awards to the winners following the close of racing. The hotel is filling up, since the Best View rooms on the third floor have a grandstand view of the Inner Harbour and all the action in the downtown. Be sure to book now!
If you are bucking the crowd, and planning ahead, don’t forget that on October 5, the Canadian Women’s national hockey team will be playing at Save On Foods Memorial Arena, to play an exhibition game against the US Women’s hockey team.
The game is part of a six game exhibition series in advance of the 2010 Olympics. The women are expected to play not only in Victoria, but also in Calgary and Ottawa. Their training camp is in Dawson Creek and they’ll also be in Vancouver at the end of August.
So if you like Women’s hockey (and what’s not to like?) and you were thinking of coming to Victoria in the fall anyway, why not book your stay now, with us, and we can reserve tickets for you for the game. But you better hurry – word is that they’re selling fast, and the ticket outlet doesn’t expect any to be left by the end of summer at the rate they’re going. Tickets are $30.00 for sides and $20.00 for bowl – just email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or click on the link to the right for our reservations form and let us know when you want to stay, how many tickets you’d like and we can order them for you and charge your credit card. Or you can call us at 1-888-823-6472 between 7:30 am and 11:30 pm PDT.
