There are a host of activities going on around Victoria for the next week or two. Dance, theatre, marathons, Earth Day celebrations, music and so much more. If you can find time for even the ones we’ve listed here, you’ll find your visit more than full of exciting and enjoyable events!
Earth Day is coming up and there are lots of activities going on around town. Five star whaling watching has agreed to donate all the proceeds from their tours on Earth Day to The Land Conservancy’s Wild Hills and Beaches Fund – pretty nifty, very socially conscious. If you’ve wanted to go on a whale watching expedition, April 22 is the best time – you’ll see magnificent sights, including whales, and you’ll be helping to preserve the beautiful natural wilderness around Victoria.
If walking is more your thing, then join the Earth Day Walk, also on April 22, beginning at noon in front of the Provincial Legislature. Lots of fun family events, and everyone is encouraged to wear a costume. What kind? Who cares? Let your imagination run free and let the inner you out for a while!
Once you’ve worked up an appetite watching the whales and walking through downtown, then head on over to the Crystal Gardens for a taste treat! Culinaire is your chance to experience the best restaurants and purveyors of fine foods in our region. Presenters will be offering individual servings of their inspired creations and signature dishes for you to try. You will discover new restaurants, learn about their menu offerings, sample amazing cuisine, and enjoy a great evening in a relaxed, ambient environment. Culinaire will be a one of a kind food experience for years to come.
And now that we’ve exercised and fed our bodies, we mustn’t neglect the inner self. Intrepid Theatre proudly presents April 14, 1912 – A Titanic Adventure. If you’re interested in the human reaction to disaster and extreme stress, if you’ve always wondered how you would fare in a disaster of this magnitude, be sure to see this production, playing April 23 and 24 at the Metro Studio, 1411 Quadra Street.
And coming in May is the Unofest, also staged by Intrepid Theatre. Be sure to see this groundbreaking and envelope stretching festival of solo performers at Metro Studios 1411 Quadra St.
