Eclectic and various vacations

There is lots going on in the city now – summer is almost here and our activities are showing it. Come out and see the city in its gorgeous springtime makeup! Flowers are in full bloom, grass is growing, the trees have that special green that only appears with new leaves and everywhere the birds are singing. Here at the Admiral, we’ve got some wonderful blossoms to show off, along with our spotlessly clean rooms and our old-world, home away from home atmosphere. And just so you don’t get bored, once you’ve smelled the flower, enjoyed our company and tasted our terrific continental breakfast, here are a few things you can do to while away your time in the City of Gardens.

If you’re in the mood for a romantic ballet, be sure to get tickets for the performance of Victoria and Albert by the Canadian Pacific Ballet. Staged at the MacPherson May 14 and 15, the CPB is a wonderful company whose dancers easily show their joy and love of their vocation.

If theatre is more your line, we have two possible offerings. There’s the 25th Annual Putnam Spelling Bee, at the Belfry Theatre, running until May 16, and the Sunshine Boys just a little way up Island at the Chemanius Festival Theatre. Either or both of these are wonderful plays, with talented actors.

Have kids? Decided that Peter Pan wasn’t the only one who never wanted to grow up? Then you’re in for a treat, because the Victoria Toy Show is on at the Mary Winspear Centre May 16 from 10 am to 4 pm. Robots, Dolls, Dinky, Corgi, Matchbox, Action Figures, Trains, Games, Barbies, Lego, wind-ups – and tons more! Bring your toys for an evaluation, and see what’s available for your collection, or just enjoy the nostalgia of days gone by!

Don’t forget, too that the Victoria Day weekend is fast approaching. If you want to celebrate in the city named for the queen whose holiday this is, then book with us now – we can guarantee we’ll be sold out for that weekend. And don’t forget that the Island Farms Victoria Day Parade is also that weekend – May 24, in fact.

We’d love to have you come and stay with us, adjacent to the Inner Harbour, within sight of the Empress Hotel and downtown Victoria, and just a few steps away from the BC Legislative Buildings and the Royal BC museum. We’re cheap but not shoddy, friendly without being overbearing and knowledgable about all the city’s activities, so book your room or suite now, for a wonderful weekend (or longer!) at the Admiral Inn.
