Olympic torch leaving Greece for Canada

Olympic torch leaving Greece for Canada

Yes, it’s this weekend – October 30 and 31 the Olympic Torch will be in Victoria on its 47,000 km journey from Greece to Vancouver. As the capital city of the host province, Victoria receives the torch into Canada, and sends it on its way across the country and back until it arrives in Vancouver for the opening of the 2010 Olympic Games.

The Admiral is just down the street from where the relay will start, and where the ceremonies and party will be held, so if you’re planning on coming into town to see it, book with us and you’ll have a great view, especially if you reserve our Best View Rooms. Best of all, we’re less than 5 minutes away from the Parliament buildings and the inner harbour, where most of the action will take place.

And get ready for one of the year’s best parties, including the Olympic torch party! It’s Hallowe’en this weekend. Victoria loves a party and this festival is one of our favourites – the decorations have been up for weeks, and the cobwebs are so thick you need a machete to get through them! Costumes will be worn by almost everyone, from Darth Vader to Wonder Woman to the Sheik of Araby to a Mail-Order Bride to Dr. Horrible and Captain Hammer. And just wait till you see what the regular people will be wearing! Come to Victoria for a scary great time this weekend. Be sure to stay with us, at the Admiral – we’ve got the pumpkins and jack o’lanterns, and I think I’ve even spied Frankenstein lurking about the place.
Be sure also today to check our deals and specials page for new packages and special prices for the holiday seasons. If you are coming to Victoria for Christmas, we’d love to have you stay with us. Our warm cozy and homelike atmosphere will help carry the blessings of Christmas on through the evening and the next day. Located adjacent to the inner, downtown harbour, in scenic and peaceful James Bay, the Admiral Inn is your home away from home for the holidays or any season. Check our long term rates on our website, and call today for your reservation.
If you are looking for a place for your small business to stay, with meeting rooms and special amentities, or you have a small group looking for a quiet, homey and intimate hotel, give us a call – we cater to small corporate events and small groups – whether a touring group, a wedding, or reunion.
