It’s part of the summer vacation!

It’s only a day or two until the great 20th Symphony Splash, and the Admiral still has a few rooms available if you want to come to Victoria to hear and experience one of the greatest of the city’s partys. August 2, starting at 4 pm.

This year’s guests include pianist Christine Wong and tenor Josh Lovell. The official events start at 4pm with the Vic High R&B band leading off, but we all know that the party starts long before that! The evening winds up with the traditional fireworks display to the accompaniment of the 1812 overture, and if this year is typical, it includes real cannons (fired from a safe location well away from the ochestra and the crowds). And encore with the Canadian Scottish Regiment Pipe and Drum Band is also part of the evenings entertainment.  The Admiral is only a short (less than 5 minutes) walk away from the symphony, and by sitting on our balconys, you can enjoy the entire concert in relaxing comfort.

While you’re here, don’t forget that the Canadian Pacific Ballet is performing in Market Square, the Ballet under the Stars – Rutland Square and Carmen Suite are danced August 4, 5, 11 & 12. Capriccio Italienne and Summertime Suite can be seen August 18, 19, 25 and 26. Tickets are $27.50 each, and if you ask when reserving a room here, we can book tickets for you for any of their performances.

Also playing this month from August 4 – 16 is The Fantasticks with Victor Dolhai, Fran Gebhard, Kelly Hudson and Sara Pelzer of blue bridge repertory theatre company.  Check with the MacPherson box office for tickets.

Make sure that you book early for any of these events, summer in the inner harbour is a crowded and joyous time of year, and we at the Admiral want to be sure you have a comfortable and relaxing time on your summertime getaway.
