What's on around town?

Victoria is rockin! Things are heating up and there’s a lot going on all over the city and the island. So plan to come to visit, and to stay with us while you enjoy any of the events we’ve collected for you.

Beginning Thursday and running through the weekend, be sure to check out the Victoria Harbour Floating Boat Show at the Inner Harbour, just steps from our front door. Run by the BC Yacht Brokers Association, where else can you see how the other half lives for only $10.00? What a great way to spend a sunny afternoon!

Beginning May 1 and running until May 10, the Victoria Operatic Society is putting on The Will Rogers Follies. A dazzling Broadway musical that won 6 Tony awards, the Follies is “an extravagant look at the life of one of America’s first international multimedia sensations.” Filled with song, dance and some of Will’s best and funniest stories, you’ll be sure to have a great time at the MacPherson.

For those with a more outdoor bent, the Arbutus Ridge Open runs from May 2 to May 3 at the Arbutus Ridge Golf Course in Cobble Hill, just over the Malahat – about an hour’s drive from the Admiral. Tee times run from 7 am to 1 pm.

The Brotchie Reach Outrigger races are on again this year, May 2 and 3, at the Gorge waterway in Saanich, a very short drive from our hotel.

May 5, at the Royal Theatre: Lewis Black, one of Canada’s top comics. The New York Times said “He keeps his audiences in stitches with an irreverent brand of humour that stings the psyche as it tickles the funny-bone.” Our desk clerks will be happy to find ticket prices and show times when you check in.

Ongoing, the Viking exhibit at the Maritime Museum continues until May 11, the Assume Nothing New Social Practice exhibit at the Art Gallery continues until May 24, and the Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival is ongoing until May 11.

Lots of reasons to come and see the city, and lots of reasons to stay with us. Remember, we have five star service at three star prices, and what our desk clerks don’t know they’ll be happy to find out for you!

Lovely page addition to a great website. In planning our next (early May) visit I was checking out Victoria’s “things to do” – and I found your “helpful links” quite – well – helpful. That is, until I clicked on the Victoria Symphony link http://www.victoriasymphony.com/ and found that, while it had rather a nice forthcoming programme scheduled, it was somewhat inconveniently located in Texas.

We are looking forward to seeing you all again – or should I say: “Y’all”?

We will be working on that glitch! Thank you for letting us know.
